The following is from an article by Arlene Hougland, Astrologer

Come on; fess up, Arlene says.

How many of us are willing to admit that money or the lack of it often holds us hostage?

She says this is one of the top four questions her clients ask her; do you see money in my chart?

It’s crazy, isn’t it? Little green pieces of paper that we are told are not even worth the paper they are printed on, and yet wars are fought for them, dreams and health are sacrificed for them; and important decisions are swayed by them. Many of us are like dogs chasing our tails thoroughly convinced that if we just run fast enough we will catch it.

She even admits that she has spent many a late evening dreaming of winning the lottery, yet never investing in a ticket.

We may think we are exempt, and somehow above it all, but just let the price of something we need or use a lot rise to a level that pinches us and we suddenly feel caught in the grip of our captor—money.

From an astrological point of view there are many factors that go into building wealth and prosperity; with money being the least of those. She tells us there are a number of planetary energies that contribute to our finding the wealth the Universe has intended for each of us.

Without going into all the signs, we can see that it is our attitude about money that influences our wealth.

Hopefully we understand along with her that money is a tool, not an end. The true components of wealth and prosperity go deeper and last longer. May we all find our energies favorable and drink of the Universe’s true bounty of which there is no end, she says.

SUGGESTED AFFIRMATIONS:

‘I drink of the Universe’s infinite bounty’!

I use money only as a tool!

My attitude about money is ‘healthy’.

I spend my entire $104,000 with a prosperous attitude!

The following is my interpretation of an article by John Price from the May 2008 issue of “The Quartus Report”. It’s an old message with a bit of a new twist…

ACTING AS IF

Mr. Price was reminded recently of the old adage “fake it until you make it”—remembering the fact that, indeed, energy follows thought. So this seeming game is actually a way to develop a self-fulfilling prophecy.

However, ‘acting as if’ will only produce results if we are alert and enthusiastic about the process.

When we CHOOSE a certain aspect of life and living, and accept it in our feeling nature, we must move into a consciousness of HAVE. But sometimes this is difficult to maintain given the results are not yet visible. It’s like inflating the HAVE balloon, he says, only to find it empty again after a nick of concern.

So the ACCEPTANCE step must follow—seeing what we desire from a higher perspective. We can then clearly see those images of stability and security; truly feel the fulfillment and completion. This is seeing as Spirit sees—that it is already done!

Through this “AS IF” imaging power the energy of FAITH is activated. This faith is the unfailing assurance that helps us remove the mountains of fear and doubt, Mr. Price reminds us. It breaks down the middle wall or partition created by our error thoughts.

So we are producing IMAGING POWER that activates FAITH which in turn energized the power of WILL.

He says WILL is the focus to hold firmly those images of completion and fulfillment along with the unfailing assurance of faith. So WILL is not something we try to force from a personal sense. But it’s the natural result of the first two aspects, acceptance and faith.

Now we’ve moved into the full measure of HAVE when Spirit takes over to complete the self-fulfilling prophecy. AND SO IT IS!!

SUGGESTED AFFIRMATIONS:

I act AS IF I am rich, whole, successful, loved and loving because I AM!” John Price

What I see, I shall become!

I see all-sufficient money in the bank, always available for my abundant life.

Today I spend my entire $103,000 focusing on its infinite flow!

GREETINGS!!

http://www.judysartadventures.com/

Thanks once again for your continued interest in my artistic gifts and passion for animals, travel and nature

(it’s a pleasure sharing photographs, drawings, egg carvings, urns and more)!

This week my dear friend June passed away. She had also been my most avid art supporter for the entire 18 years that I knew her—sometimes seeming to feel the need to support me with the very many dog drawings I did for her to give to her family during that time. You see, she passed down to her 6 children her compassion for dogs and so the family was known for rescuing innumerable canines.

It seemed touchingly fitting that Susie, her favorite therapy dog was not only with her when she passed but was a guest of honor at her memorial service.

Her love lives on...

Sammy was her very last dog, this drawing was done for her in February 1996.

Please feel free to pass my letter on to others like yourself who enjoy my creations.

I will give my entire $102,000 to those nurses, etc. who are working around the clock to take care of my mom. They are not only giving their time and their knowledge but they are putting up with all the emotional family aspects. They are even enduring intimidation & accusations from those family members who are in such pain they aren’t thinking clearly. Believe me, they have earned every cent of their wages, and more than that they have earned their angel wings. They have spent time with me, one on one, to comfort me and to answer all my questions...they deserve this and more, in my book.

Another one by Ron Fox adapted from the “Science of Mind Magazine”—August 2006.

Spiritual Investment

I once read that in the universe nothing is given away. What we send out always returns. The law of circulation teaches what goes around comes around. When we refuse to give we refuse to receive.

There is a fable about a town whose wealthy men agree to throw a huge party. They pay for everything and agree that each of them will supply several barrels of wine. One of the men decides that no one will know if he dilutes his wine with water. At the appointed hour for the toast, everyone takes a sip of wine and realizes that all the wealthy men had the same idea. The moral of the story is to taste the wine we must give the wine.

Giving is an attitude. We live not to acquire but to unfold and develop. Giving helps us develop a greater awareness of spirit. This is true whether we are giving our love, our time, our talent, or our treasure. When we give, we become instruments of God.

In what area of our lives can we increase our giving?

Let’s commit to doing it.

It will return to us in kind.

SUGGESTED AFFIRMATIONS:

In this moment my good comes to me, enough and to spare, to give and to share.” Ernest Holmes

”My good can never be depleted, because the source of my good is inexhaustible.” Ernest Holmes

” I give with an open heart and my good is abundantly and lovingly returned!”

I remember the law of circulation and practice it!”

Today I spend my entire $102,000 maintaining the divine flow!

The following is adapted from an essay by Ron Fox in the December 2007 issue of “Science of Mind Magazine”.

PROSPERITY

Prosperity is a way of thinking, a mindset. The late film producer Michael Todd once said, “I’ve been broke but I’ve never been poor.” If we want to be prosperous in all things we must begin by taking responsibility for our own thoughts. We must take charge of our life.

If we believe in struggle and chaos, that is what we will experience.

If we believe in an ever-expanding and giving universe, we manifest prosperity.

If we believe there will never be enough, then there never will be enough.

The creative process is at work all the time. We can’t pray for twenty minutes, meditate for a while, think negatively the rest of the day and expect to create the life we desire. We must be vigilant; our spiritual work is not an end within itself.

In Matthew 6:21 it is written, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Let’s ask ourselves,

“What do I treasure?”

“What is really important to me?”

We must know that when we begin to do our spiritual work on a consistent basis, when we truly do live from a life space of gratitude and prosperity, our treasure will appear.

Today is a great day to begin.

SUGGESTED AFFIRMATIONS:

Today I know that all I seek is mine!

”I open myself to receive my good!

I feel the presence of Spirit working in my life!

”I begin TODAY!

Today let’s spend our entire $101,000 from a place of gratitude and prosperity!

Here’s my adaptation of the other essay from Linda MacNamar that I promised you.

Living Abundantly!

What would you wish for if you could have everything you want?

How would you feel when you go it?

Now, imagine what your life would be like if you lived every day knowing you were lacking nothing!

Is more money the answer to having what you want?

Most of us would agree that money certainly helps. But even millionaires sometimes live their lives from “not enough.” Beyond meeting our basic needs, what is this desire to have more money in the bank or in our billfolds?

Our egos will try to convince us that if we only had more, something other than what we already have, we could be secure,

generous and

peaceful.

In other words, we begin to think that more money would make us happy.

Money is consciousness in form; it carries our energy with it—our consciousness.

We might ask ourselves, “How much of my fear,

how much of my sense of not enough,

keeps me from living life abundantly?”

When we become aware that we are connected to an unlimited source of all-good, we find there is no such thing as living on a limited income. When we are aware of our unlimited source, we move to an acceptance that the money we have is enough to meet our needs and to allow us to give generously, from what we have, to the world around us.

SUGGESTED AFFIRMATIONS:

My attention is focused on Source!

”I now live a generous and abundant life!

Today let’s spend our $100,000 expecting All Good!

A friend's comment on NEGATIVITY!

It's difficult to understand people who are so negative all the time....I do know that they truly miss many opportunities with young people [in this particular circumstance]...they can be great fun and we can learn so much for them. After all, they are the future. When I think of people who won't give the kids a chance, thoughts come into my mind like: it may be one of these young people who becomes the doctor that saves your life.....it may be the young girl who wanted to learn CPR in the baby sitters' certification class who gives you mouth to mouth when you can't breathe....it may be the one who wanted to be the journalist and began in the community newsletter who is the VOICE out there writing about your freedom....or worse yet, it may be the young man you called worthless who stands in the front line of war, fighting for your freedom.... It really ticks me off, but I am going to go for it [working with these young people] and if only one life is touched, then it was successful...

This week has been a real “learning week” for me so I posted several realizations on both of my blogs. http://judy-journeyinjoy.blogspot.com/ and http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/jrnyjoy. Also remember the daily quotes and my art newsletters on my blogspot blog.

The following ideas come from Susan McCarthy, author of The Value of Money (from an article in “Guideposts” April 2008 edition).

THE TRUTH ABOUT MONEY

It’s About Love and Fear

What’s the first emotion we feel when we think about money? …anxiety? …fear? …love? …joy?

She says we have given money so much power that it’s not unusual to have scary reactions to it. We fear making mistakes, losing our money, running out of it, being taken advantage of, etc. We want money to solve our problems, and sometimes believe that to not have it makes us a failure—while nice to have, it is NOT the key to a happy life.

No matter our circumstance in life, if we approach life joyously and compassionately odds are we will approach finances the same way—with generosity and compassion, letting love, not fear guide our actions. Love is the greatest wealth of all.

What Goes Around Comes Around

Generosity begets generosity. It is a certainty that those who give with an open and generous heart do receive it back the same way. It’s FUN!

Money Is a Mirror

The way we act with money tells us a lot about ourselves—sometimes more than we want to hear! Since money is linked to so many parts of our lives, it is one of the best ways to discover who we really are.

Are we using money to fill some need it isn’t meant to fill?

Are we using it in ways that reflect the persons we truly want to be?

Money Is a Bridge

The decisions we make about money affect our lives as powerfully as just about any others we make. If we don’t like what we see, we can change—if we do like what we see, we can grow in that direction. By managing our money-related behaviors we can even open the door to a new more conscious way of living. Because money is connected to everything, creating a healthier, more honest relationship to money promotes a healthier, more honest relationship everywhere in our lives.

Money Has No Power In Itself

Money may feel like or appear to have enormous power. This is only true by the power we GIVE it. It is only a simple tool, although we often allow that tool to control us. She suggests that by cultivating a healthy relationship to money it can be a tool for spiritual growth. It can help us turn our attention to those things that truly matter most, becoming more generous, compassionate and loving—expressing our deepest spiritual values. And that can give us more joy than any amount of money alone could ever give us!

SUGGESTED AFFIRMATIONS:

I make wise choices with my money!

My relationship with money is healthy!

“GIVING is GOOD!!!”

Today let’s spend our $99,000 creating a healthy working relationship with money!

Another HAPPY & HEALTHY thought!

Why is it that the smallest act of kindness is sometimes regarded as such a 'big deal'? I did a small good deed the other day, taking that trash and recycling out for all three of my neighbors--1. the gal whose trash service I share and therefore do this for every week, 2. my neighbor who is gone for the week (who already raved about my kindness for also retreiving her mail), 3. the brother of my neighbor who just died so he didn't have to make a special trip out here--after the estate sale. When I called to be sure this was the plan, my neighbor's brother was so amazed I'd do that for him he couldn't grasp that it was already done.
Are we so caught up in our hectic lifestyles that we can't take a few seconds to offer a smile or wave, pick up a piece of litter from the street or offer a helping hand?
Have we forgotten that we are all One not only with one another but the entire planet?
On the flip side of this, do we accept (or even ask for) kindnesses graciously, thanking the giver for his efforts?
How much richer life will be when we get back to these basic principles and teach our young people how good it feels to care about/for one another!

HAPPY AND HEALTHY experience!

If your life is like mine, you also see opportunities to improve your way of being in this world at every turn! It's up to me to first take that look, acknowledge something could be improved upon and then take action.

Five months ago, my friend broke her hip and has since been in the hospital/rehab center in a city an hour over the mountain from me. Having much energy this has been very difficult for her. Mailing her cards and telephoning once in a while didn’t seem enough so I finally decided to put my consideration of having a very old dog that becomes frantic every time I leave the house aside and plan the one hour each way trip. I called her husband who shared with me that she won’t be returning home at all but will be going into to a nursing home since she won’t be able to care for herself. This made the journey even more imperative. Well, the dread of the mountainous drive into an unfamiliar city gripped me. Then something (maybe some remembering and wisdom) kicked in and I made a choice to change my attitude. Instead of this trepidation I decided to take my dog along because he rides in the car well now, not have a timeframe thereby eliminating any hurry and make it simply a pleasant day out for a drive for a visit with a good friend.

Other than a couple minor mishaps with the dog it was indeed a glorious sunny day with little traffic and no problems finding my way. An added bonus was my getting to feel so much better having lifted my friend’s spirits—and the relief of no longer procrastinating. What a great reminder to me that what we focus on becomes our reality--in every avenue of our lives!

Later I was reminded that it’s not what we do that matters but who we are. This has caused me to reflect innumerable times since. Busyness seems to have been ingrained in my personality, so letting myself just be Who I AM feels like a stretch. If this is indeed the case, then I felt it important to ask myself, WHO AM I really? If you haven't taken time to do this it could be a great exercise--it has been for me! My answers seemed to demand another question--In just being Who I Am is it sufficient to simply do what makes me happy?

I just set up another blog through the AZ Republic at http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/jrnyjoy—check it out!

Here’s a story that hit home recently for me which can certainly be applied to financial circumstances as well as the rest of life. Although I’m told it isn’t new, even if you’ve heard it perhaps there will be something new to discover. It’s a fable told by Bill Gibson in his speeches and seminars. A very wise hotel worker in South Africa shared it with him twelve years ago. He uses it to demonstrate the power of optimism. It goes something like this…

It’s ALL GOOD!

Once upon a time there was a King who had a very wise and good friend. This friend always gave the King good advice. Every time something negative happened the friend would say, “This is good, and in due time you’ll understand why it was good.”

One day the King decided he wanted to go into the bush to do some hunting. So he asked his friend if he knew of a good hunting guide. His friend said he had worked as a guide for several years so would be happy to take the King hunting.

After about an hour in the bush, the good friend spotted some buck (antelope). He pointed them out to the King who aimed his rifle, pulled the trigger but the gun back-fired, blowing the Kings’ thumb off.

The King was on the ground screaming with pain. His good friend looked at him with a smile on his face and said to the King, “That is good. You’ve gotten your thumb blown off and in due time you’ll know why it was good.”

Needless to say, the King lost it, was furious with his good friend for being so inconsiderate. When they got back to the Kingdom, the King took his friend directly to a jail cell, locked him up and said to him, “Any person who would say such an inconsiderate thing to a friend with his thumb blown off is insane. You are a danger to me, a danger to yourself and a danger to the public, so I’m putting you in jail for the rest of your life. And that is good for you, for me and for the public.” And he left him.

A couple of years later, the King’s hand had healed. He decided to go hunting again but remembering his previous bad experience decided not to get a hunting guide. So he went hunting on his own and sure enough got lost. Not only did he get lost in the bush but he got captured by cannibals. They took him to their village, built a fire, tied him to the stake and just as they were ready to torch him, the Chief of the village dropped by. The Chief discovered that the King had a missing thumb which ironically it was a “bad omen” for this tribe to eat someone with a missing limb. The Chief said to his people, “Cut the ropes and chase him away from our village because he is bad luck.”

Eventually the King found his way back to his Kingdom. He was ecstatic about being alive and went straight to the jail to unlock the cell and let his friend out. He explained how losing his thumb saved his life. He now realized his good friend had been right…losing his thumb had been a very good thing. He said he was very sorry for putting his good friend in jail for two years, indicating he’d like to repay him. He offered to give him anything he wished.

His good friend said, “I don’t want anything from you because it was good that I was in jail.”

The king said, "Why do you say that?"

The good friend replied, "If I hadn't been in jail, I would've been with you. So I'd be dead now, eaten by cannibals because I have TWO thumbs."

Personal reminder experience!

It had been a discouraging week for me so I ‘planned’ to make it a fun and relaxing week end. Here’s how that went…

On Sunday, April 6, 2008 I pulled into the Walgreen Drug Store parking lot beside a huge silver ‘monster’ pick-up truck. Before I could exit my car he pulled out, cutting too short, consequently ‘walking over' my front fender. He didn’t even slow down, much less stop to take responsibility.

Later I had to return and this time my car inexplicably began rolling. At least two Good Samaritans pushed against the car to stop it while another ran into the store to find me. Yet another was ready to assist and there may have been more.

There are no spoken or written words that can express my gratitude to you all for not only saving my car but the pain and suffering that would have resulted had it back ended the cars in front of it. Hopefully my promise to pay your kindness forward will suffice.

I am proud to live in a community where there are more caring residents than those like the person driving the truck.

This is the editorial I sent to most of the major newspapers in my area. My state of depression deepened after this happened. So in my attempt to recover I remembered that focusing on what’s “right” is the way to go. In hind sight I was able to see that:

  1. I am always looked over and taken care of even if it looks like these caring people,
  2. that I have a great car since it wasn’t demolished--only a tiny black mark resulted,
  3. that I didn’t have to deal with an insurance company including higher rates;
  4. how BLESSED I am!

Lessons learned:

  1. Never assume I’m safe within my parking ‘stripe’,
  2. never park anywhere near another big ‘monster truck’—in fact avoid parking lots entirely if at all possible,
  3. trust that loving, protective Higher Power and
  4. know that no matter how discouraging things might get there is always a way to be Who we are meant to be, in service - - "There is no such thing as just existing. Everything is in service to everything else. Existence is giving and receiving. A stone gives and receives no less than a saint." Jacob Needleman
  5. There is always good that comes out of seeming disasters--I'm now posting on the website of the largest newspaper in my state!
