Karen S. Wylie wrote about abundance in the November 2007 issue of Science of Mind magazine. I thought her words significant and so for all of us here’s my version of what she said.

ABUNDANCE

Ms. Wylie finds that when she is generous with her resources, more blessings come her way. And conversely, the tighter her grip on what she perceives to be hers, the more constricted she feels and the more the well-spring of divine flow dries up.

HAVE YOU EVER FELT THESE THINGS…?
When we hold on tightly and desperately to what we think is ours, it restricts the movement of the resources that are always circulating in the universe. What she knows, and what we all have learned by now, is that the gifts of the kingdom are constantly pouring forth, and if we do not restrict or resist them, those gifts will easily and effortlessly be ours. We are a part of that flow.

Giving can take many forms, she says, such as being a good listener to someone who needs to be heard, showing up for someone in pain, sending a card to express your gratitude or saying “I love you”. There are innumerable ways for us to share our resources.

LET’S BE CREATIVE AND FIND NEW WAYS TO GIVE!!

If we feel that we don’t have enough to share, the easiest way to move beyond feelings of lack is to become a giver says Ms. Wylie; to become dedicated to giving from the heart without thought of reward every day. It can be a life-changing activity of selfless service. As we open ourselves to our ever-expanding good, and share ourselves and our gifts, our abundance is manifest!

From the June issue of Science of Mind I’ve adapted the words of Herracia Brewer.

RICH HEART

Very recently, Rev. Brewer tells us, her mother shared some vegetables from her garden, saying, “The more you share, the more the plants will bear.” It dawned on the writer that this is the truth about every aspect of life. The more we share, the more the universe will provide for us in personal, spiritual, financial, professional and loving matters.

John D. Rockefeller best illustrated this in our modern society. His total tithes for the year of 1855 were nine dollars and fifty cents. By 1934 his total tithes had grown to five hundred thirty-one million dollars. He often commented, “God gave me my wealth.” Yes, he did, and Rockefeller practiced the law of circulation giving it back in tithes and offerings.

Emerson reminds us to beware of holding too much good in our hands. He is cautioning us because holding too much good will cause stagnation. The corresponding law of circulation will return that which we have given, running over.

Again this inspiration comes from this month’s Science of Mind Magazine. Please enjoy my interpretation—written by Ruth Deaton.

RECEIVING MONEY

Money is only part of what is referred to as “abundance,” Rev. Dr. Ruth reminds us. She says however, it is a necessary and important part of modern civilization. Past cultures placed value on shells, beads, gems and other items that they used as currency. We not have a choice of cash, credit cards and checks as legal forms of tender.

When we consider Spirit as the source of all that is, this includes the substance from which everything is made—including money! Now remember that the Universe can only give us what we take!

That’s right, TAKE!!

When we realize that Spirit is constantly giving us substance—love, life, energy—it removes any thought that we must plead with God for our good. We have one assignment—to break down the barriers of our old ideas and premises.

We need to clarify how much money we want, and then imagine what we would do with this money, actually creating the feeling of already having it. Imagine the changes this will bring!

We must remember that focusing on our abundant life takes nothing away from anyone else.

There is enough for everyone!

Today freedom is on our minds along with the celebration of it. I found the following words of Ruth Deaton inspiring. From the Science of Mind Magazine please enjoy my interpretation.

INDEPENDENCE!

Today is Independence Day in our country. Our freedom came about because of a specific intention of its people to gain it. The colonies’ residents knew that no matter the odds, if they were single minded about it they would succeed. So they set forth a declaration to claim it—and they achieved it!

These same steps, Rev. Dr. Deaton tells us are required to gain one’s independence from any habitual situation, whether it is insufficient money, poor health, troubling relationships, addiction of another undesirable experience.

First we need to know what we want. What would freedom look and feel like to us? She suggests writing about it, putting color and emotion into the new awareness of our independence.

Paraphrasing Ernest Holmes, she says, we should stay with an idea as if it were fulfilled, until it actually is. We must know good is happening invisibly, through our attitude and thought.

Continually giving thanks for our good helps to speed it along, she adds.

Does experiencing greater abundance bring us happiness, peace of mind and persistent well-being?

We all know the answer is really NO!

Authentic abundance exists, not someday, but right now.

Did we see the play of light and shadows today as the wind gently gusted among the leaves on the trees, or the little flecks of color on the many birds that flew around (no matter what the temperature)?

It is a marvelous world, full of richness and beauty and abundance. But what we see has a lot to do with what we believe. To really notice a world full of richness, takes eyes filled with appreciation. True appreciation requires that we slow down and be grateful for every little thing we have asked for that we have received.

Let’s be sure to cherish what we DO have - all the small blessings that come with every day - and we’ll instantly be filled to overflowing and unlocking the hidden power of appreciation.

My latest project is putting photos in my computer to get on DVDs for preservation and easier viewing. When not working on family photos, I’m working with my past artwork.

Today I want to share these two scrimshawed pieces with you since they “spoke to me” when I was looking back at my artwork. The first is Rowdy, the dear dog of a friend of ours back in the 1980s. It was only about 2” by 3” and all done just by a sharp steel tip on a finished piece of legal ivory—you can currently see it on the website home page, too.

Then comes “Hobo” on a pendant less than 1” by 1”.

The article by Rev. Herracia Brewer from this month’s “Science of Mind Magazine” spoke to me, so here’s my version of what she had to say:

PINCH ME!!

During a drive to work, Rev. Brewer says, she caught a glimpse of a billboard that read: “Pinch Me!” The caption was at the bottom of a picture of a family standing in front of their new home. The inference seemed to her to be that the family needed to be pinched to know whether their new home was a dream or reality.

She goes on to say when good befalls us, we often say, “Pinch me, I can’t believe this is happening,” when in fact, it is Spirit’s pleasure to give us everything we desire. The truth is we need to be pinched to wake up from the dream of not having enough. We need to allow our conscious realization of belief in the Universal plan to materialize.

The caption on the billboard suggested that the belief and faith came after the home was purchased, when in reality we know that the faith, visualization and idea in the mind of the conscious individual always comes first.

We plant the seed idea in faith believing the idea will sprout and materialize in manifest form. She says she doesn’t want to be pinched after the fact, but rather when she starts to dream of lack, of not being good enough or deserving of the good that Spirit has for her.

[Personally I like this enough to suggest if the pinching doesn’t work, then maybe we try the ‘rubber band’ concept—snapping it when we find ourselves thinking lack! Somehow we have to ‘train’ ourselves!!]

My Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen!

I plant seeds of faith KNOWING they are sprouting!

Thoughts of lack are no longer in my consciousness.

John Price wrote the article from which the following ideas come. (June issue of THE QUARTUS REPORT)

Don’t Let the “Economy” Spook You

Mr. Price urges us to stop worrying about what’s happening “out there” and get on with joyful living!

The newspapers crank up the negative numbers in headlines, while television reports on the economy are as bad as prescription drug commercials with their side effects, he says.

We don’t have to buy into this!!

Concern about things like this resists the ‘givingness’ of the Universe that is eternally taking place.

He suggests we separate ourselves from the race consciousness that revels in gloom—further saying if this isn’t a denial of God, then he doesn’t know what is!

Not “preaching”, he says he’s simply talking to himself and sharing these thoughts with us. Perhaps we ALL could use some ‘self talk’…

We all know that consciousness is the key to everything!

We have the power of will and choice.

SO let’s will and choose, think and feel, see and know the ideal life.

Let’s center our minds on the activity of Spirit rather than effects.

Let’s do what we can do daily in our spiritual work to stay above the appearances that are being promoted as “woe-is-me” conditions.

At our ‘I Am’ center is our own individual Economy, sound and booming with no thought of lack and limitation.

SUGGESTED AFFIRMATIONS:

I am consciously aware of the Divine Consciousness, the Light, the Love within me!

I trust that perfect Presence to do everything necessary; I am in perfect peace!

I am one with the Law of Abundance regardless of outside circumstances.
