Season of Giving

Ideas from Katherine Saux, November 2006 Science of Mind magazine.

By now most of us are well into preparations for the Christmas season.

We are being bombarded with advertisements promoting this or that as the perfect gift.

Thanksgiving seems long past and far away as we get into the annual debate about whether we’ll send Christmas cards and to whom.

Our shopping lists may have become laden with gifts of obligation and duty; this relative or that friend and a special coworker or service provider all need to be recognized.

When advertising hits this frantic stride, perhaps the concept of giving becomes defined by what we can purchase and wrap; however the law of giving and receiving is more profound and personal than the exchange of material possessions.

If, as A course in Miracles teaches, Spirit knows no difference between having and being, then our greatest gift is offering the best of who we are—in friendship, in caring, in service, in listening, in all the little acts of kindness and love of which we are capable.

Wouldn’t we much rather have a friend’s understanding and support while we speak our hearts’ joy or pain than have a new bottle of perfume?

Don’t misunderstand me, presents are great, especially when they come from the heart and are given with joy, but the real season of giving is year-round.

The greatest gift is one’s self.

Be generous.

Suggested Affirmations:

I rejoice in knowing I am a gift of God.

I give that gift generously.

That gift is returned ten-fold to me.

Let’s spend ALL of our $119,000

remembering what is really important to purchase

and what is most important to give !

Judy’s Art of the Month Newsletter
December 2008 Vol. 4, Edition 43
'Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened'
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
http://www.judysartadventures.com/
Thanks once again for your continued interest in my artistic gifts and passion for animals, travel and nature
(it’s a pleasure sharing photographs, drawings, egg carvings, urns and more)!

This hand scrimshawed powder horn will be a gift this Christmas to the dear sister of one of my most ardent art fans, so it seems fitting that I share it with you during this holiday season. On one side is a beloved pet Lynx named Scratch (note the natural heart below the lynx) and on the other is Spirit her cat. I placed them so she can hang the powder horn on a wall and reverse it to see each animal.
The recipient says, “Your reproduction of the images of Spirit and Scratch are wonderfully exacting and I know that my Sister will be thrilled!”

Once again for a time you can also see their pictures on my website home page, too.
Please feel free to pass my blog and website information on to others like yourself who enjoy my creations.
As always if you would like your Judith K. Nelson artwork spotlighted, please let me know. I would do a “special edition newsletter” just for you!
If you ever have any questions or might want to ‘brainstorm’, let me know.
