Rev. Lewis gives credit to Ernest Holmes for the profound notion that money is a spiritual idea—an idea, nothing more!

She puts it this way: “Money is an effect of our closely-held beliefs, not the cause of our experiences,” going on to explain that many people blame lack of money on not living the life they desire.

Isn’t that a great excuse for not traveling, going back to school, or having the home our hearts desire?

This thinking seems to go like this: “I’d love to__________, but I don’t have the money. If I get the money, then I can __________.”

This makes money the power in our lives, instead of the Power of Mind that operates through them!

SOLUTION: replace this thought pattern!! To do this we must remember that money is merely an effect. It shows up in quantities that support the ideas we hold in our minds.

For example, suppose I want the travel abroad once a year, but don’t have the needed $3,500 to $5,000 (or MORE these days…). Instead of praying for an amount of money, I imagine myself traveling to far-off destinations. It’s none of my business how I get there! The Universe works in wondrous ways and who knows, I might have the opportunity to travel without using a lot of my own money!! She says this happened to her over a decade ago. Declaring she was a world traveler, within a few weeks a friend asked her to accompany her to Russia for a nominal fee. And that was just the beginning. She’s taken a trip out of the country every year since, and often the money just “showed up” when she needed it. Consciousness is always the Cause in our life experience, and money, like health and relationships, is only an effect.

I’ll bet if we look back in our lives we’ll see that when we wanted or needed something badly enough, the money ‘showed up’ for us as well.

So how do we APPLY THIS MONEY-MAKING PRINICIPLE??? We use the creative attribute of Mind to image what we really want. It’s probably not REALLY money, but what money can buy. And most likely, it’s not even what money can buy, but the experience we think we’ll get from what the money can buy. This desired experience is also just an idea.

All we have to do is hold, nurture, and develop that idea, and money—and everything else needed--will follow.

A VITAL FACTOR IN RECEIVING GOD'S ABUNDANCE
The ebb and flow of Life is a critical factor in order for us to receive God’s flow of limitless abundance. There are many expressions that describe the ebb and flow of our Lifeforce: inbreath and outbreath, radiation and magnetization, giving and receiving, cause and effect, action and reaction, involution and evolution. In order for the Divine Plan to be fulfilled and for us to receive a continual flow of God’s Infinite Abundance, the ebb and flow of our gift of Life must be balanced. If we are receiving more Lifeforce than we are sending out or vice versa, an imbalance is created that blocks the flow.
We can easily rebalance through our expressions of love, reverence for all Life, gratitude, wisdom, abundance, peace, joy and happiness, which in turn blesses all Life on Earth.
Even though we are receiving and using all of the gifts of Life our Father-Mother God is providing for us, we often give nothing back in return. Are we fulfilling our part of the agreement by balancing the gifts of Life we are utilizing by adding to the Light of the world? If not, that self-centered behavior effectively blocks the flow of God’s abundance.
Once our supply is blocked, we fall into the dysfunctional pattern of struggling every day just to make enough money to pay for the things we need to sustain our physical bodies. Those are the same things that God has already given to us for free. When we expend our time, energy and money to pay for what God has already provided for us, it is like not giving anything back at all to balance our gift of Life. That imbalance traps us in a mode of stagnation. As a result, we can be cast into the paralyzing throes of poverty which only perpetuates our consciousness of lack and limitation—a vicious circle.
This is the reason for the financial situations that are affecting the global economy now. The good news is that we created this problem, and we have the power to do something about it. We have the ability to renew our contracts with God and to reclaim our prosperity.
All we have to do to renew our contract with God is to begin doing what we agreed to do in the first place. That means that we need to balance the gift of Life we receive and benefit from every day by giving something back in return and expanding the borders of the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. That may sound complicated, but it is actually very simple. Anything we do to improve the quality of Life on Earth expands the borders of Divinity and adds to the Light of the world. Whatever we do to bless all Life by sharing our love, reverence, adoration, gratitude, wisdom, abundance, peace, joy and happiness further enhances the creation of Heaven on Earth.
There are as many ways to open up to the flow of God’s abundance as there are people on the planet devising ways to balance their gift of Life by sharing their love and appreciation—including money!
